On 30–31 August 2025, British Chamber of Commerce Azerbaijan (BCCA) organized a visit to the cultural capital of Azerbaijan Shusha. The delegation included the British Ambassador to Azerbaijan His Excellency Mr. Fergus Auld, BCCA Board of Directors, and representatives of member companies.

The purpose of the visit was to familiarize the members with the history of Shusha, its significant place in Azerbaijani culture, its rich cuisine, as well as the reconstruction and restoration works being carried out in the region.

As part of the visit, the guests visited Jidir Plain, Isa Spring, the restored Ashagi Govhar Agha Mosque, Museum Mausoleum Complex of Molla Panah Vagif, the house-museum of Bulbul, and other historical landmarks.

Ambassador Fergus Auld, expressing his delight at being in Shusha, recalled the recent proposal to elevate the productive discussions between the two countries to the level of a strategic partnership. He emphasized the importance of this step for further strengthening the existing cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom.

During the visit, the British company Chapman Taylor, that designed a new masterplan for Shusha, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the city’s reconstruction and restoration efforts.

This mission, organized by BCCA, demonstrated the growing interest of British businesses in Azerbaijan’s reconstruction and development process as well as will contribute to the deepening of economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
