The 7th Meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission (JIC) on economic cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland was successfully held in London on 30th April 2025. The meeting was co-chaired by the UK Minister for Services, Small Businesses and Exports, Gareth Thomas MP, and Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov.

Chairperson of the British Chamber of Commerce Azerbaijan (BCCA), Kieran Reddington, participated in the JIC and highlighted key areas of collaboration in his address. He emphasized BCCA's significant role in the energy transition agenda: "Central to the Chamber’s new strategy is to be the premier platform for business and trade discussions and the leading link at all levels, from grassroots right up to government. We are confident that with open dialogue and a partnership approach, we can act as that premier platform for investors, developers, and the supply chain."

Following the meeting, a reception dedicated to Azerbaijan-UK economic cooperation was hosted at the Embassy of Azerbaijan (Azerbaijan in UK) in the United Kingdom. In his remarks, Azerbaijani Ambassador to the UK, Elin Suleymanov, emphasized the significance of deepening the strategic partnership between our two nations. With over 500 British companies operating in Azerbaijan and more than $37 billion in investments, the UK remains Azerbaijan’s largest foreign investor. We extend our sincere thanks to the team at the British Embassy Baku for organizing and inviting us to this meaningful event. It was an honor to take part in strengthening UK-Azerbaijan economic relations.
