About the Experts

Lily Ginsberg-Keig is a policy expert whose work looks at the interaction between policy and carbon markets, with a particular focus on the voluntary carbon market, compliance mechanisms and schemes, and Article 6. She is passionate about scaling up carbon markets to provide valuable finance to combat climate change. As Policy Manager at BeZero Carbon, Lily leads on advocating for the inclusion of ratings into carbon market regulatory frameworks in order to increase transparency and credibility of global carbon markets. Before joining BeZero, Lily was a Climate and Sustainability Consultant at Arup, where she worked with both the private and public sector to build robust climate mitigation and adaptation plans. Specifically, she focused on the integration of carbon market mechanisms into climate finance strategies. Prior to this, Lily also worked for the UK Government as an adviser to the Minister for the Environment. Within this role, she provided strategic advice on both climate and biodiversity policy portfolios including on the development of the Woodland Carbon Code, Peatland Code and Biodiversity Net Gain. During her academic career, she researched the interrelations between society, the government, and the environment at the Australian National University and University College London. Lily is a dedicated and motivated policy expert and thought leader in the climate and carbon markets space.

Ahmed Rushdy is a seasoned sustainability expert and economist with over 20 years of experience driving impactful change in the financial sector. As Advisor to the Chairman for Sustainable Development at the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) of Egypt, he leads the FRA's sustainability agenda, fostering a robust and sustainable financial system. He also serves as Executive Director of the Regional Center for Sustainable Finance (RCSF).Ahmed is widely recognized for his pivotal role in establishing Egypt's Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM), a landmark initiative announced during COP 27 to solidify Egypt's position as a regional hub for African carbon credits. His deep expertise spans ESG principles, sustainable finance, carbon markets, and risk management, making him a sought-after advisor for organizations transitioning towards responsible and sustainable practices.Ahmed is a passionate advocate for sustainable development and a sought-after speaker and trainer, sharing his knowledge and expertise through workshops, webinars, and consulting services. He firmly believes in the power of financial markets to drive positive change and is committed to empowering organizations to integrate sustainability into their core strategies.
